Packaging Design

As a Brazilian, I grew up in south Florida where there was a large Brazilian community. From this background, I was exposed to the unique food and cultural heritage especially relating to strange toppings of pizza. Here, I've tested my graphical and typographic skills into creating a package design for a supposedly international frozen pizza product from Brazil which would cater to these communities and to international consumers.

Process

Given the subject matter, I went through multiple names, logos and word marks for the design process. Sketching the placement of elements for the pizza box and what logo best encapsulates Brazilian art and culture. Due to time, I settled with Pizza Brazil.

Point of Sale Sketches

Logo and Typography

The logo's figure represents the Octávio Frias de Oliveira Bridge of São Paulo, the city where Italian immigrants introduced pizza to Brazilians. The wordmark was inspired by Brazilian art that reflected the geographic curvatures of Brazilian mountains that invoke a lax and charismatic approach to the tone of the design. The typography is chosen to invoke Brazilian vernacular typography that is rich in Brazil's local hubs.

Store Mockup

For the mockup I went to my local store and had to ask permission by the store's managerial staff to set up the point of sale and boxes in a fridge.
